Western Adventure, June 2011

It's been a long time since I last posted and a lot has happened since then -- we've been to Chicago, visited friends in Montana, backpacked in Yellowstone and in the Smokies, but the biggest news of all is that Chris asked me to marry him on Charlies Bunion on 7/17/2011. Yeah! That's right -- we're engaged. We've decided to wait until next Fall to get married. Amazingly, we've already picked a date (Sept. 23rd, 2012) and booked the venue (The Attic at The Edgefield  in Portland, OR). Can't wait! Here are some pictures to recap our summer so far.

The Smokies - My First Trip

Here's how the weekend was supposed to look-- head to Knoxville, car camp, climb at the Devil's Racetrack, drive to the Obed, car camp, climb, repeat. Here's how the weekend ended up -- head to Knoxville, car camp, climb at the Devil's Racetrack, drive to the Great Smoky Mountains, car camp, hike, car camp, spend a day like tourists in Gatlinburg, home.

Not exactly what we had originally planned, but spur of the moment and so much fun! The campground was great and we had amazingly beautiful weather the whole time. Chris finally got to show me his Smokies and all I have to say is -- impressed.


 *Note to self: You're no digestion expert, but ice cream would probably be more enjoyable post-hike.

Headin' West

Chris and I spent just spent our hard earned tax refund on some much needed plane tickets. We're headin' to Montana for a 10 day stint. It won't be Chris' first time to Montana -- but he hasn't been there in years and really only saw part of Glacier.

I can't wait to show him my Montana. That means a lot of time soaking in hot springs, drinking great beer, and relaxing with some of my favorite people on this planet.

Weekend Warriors

Heading out of town this weekend with my very handsome and fantastic boyfriend and a couple old friends. The itinerary is for a day of climbing at The Devil's Racetrack and then to the Obed. So very, very ready to get outside.

Welcome Back

Is it finally here? Has Spring finally returned? I feel like I'm welcoming back an old friend, like I've they've been on the road for way too long and we're finally meeting up to have a drink. Well long lost friend -- my tired ass is pretty happy to see you again.
